The Mo’Jelly Band came together several years ago consisting of six guys born and raised in New Orleans, including five from Gentilly and one from the French Quarter. Their unassuming yet high energy, fun loving “Big Easy” style of performing blues, funk, classic New Orleans R&B, and original repertoire has provided for their ever increasing popularity with the local music establishments. Musically, they have all marinated in the influences of the great icons of New Orleans music such as Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint, Ernie K-Doe, the Meters, the Radiators, and James Rivers; and, a few members have had the pleasure and honor to perform with these legendary artists. Collectively, the band has about 100 years of experience in the music business from playing the many historic local and regional venues, to playing the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, to touring with Cajun Bands across Europe.
Combine this gumbo of experience with their jazz influenced improvisations, sauté it in the homegrown roux, and you have The Mo’Jelly Band. Their funky vibe will capture your soul with the mood of the groove and spread the jam all over you. Look for their debut CD to be released in January of 2013.
